CitiPower and Powercor have delivered strong performance across a range of measures including electricity reliability, according to the comparative report on the state's five electricity distributors released by Victoria's independent energy regulator, the Essential Services Commission (ESC).
Although the average time customers as a whole spent without electricity rose marginally in the year long reporting period, the ESC noted that the increase was primarily due to weather related events that impacted power supplies and were beyond CitiPower and Powercor's control.
In a new feature of the report that rates the overall 'health' of the five Victorian distribution businesses, only Powercor and its sister company CitiPower received the 'green light' rating for all categories of performance including managing customer and ombudsman complaints, health and safety, bushfire mitigation and environmental management.
Powercor's commitment to improving reliability was reinforced in the report where it was identified as the only Victorian distributor to have spent more on operating and maintaining its assets than forecast.
