Network tariffs and charges
There is a charge for using our network, and we pass this cost on to your energy retailer.
Part of the electricity bill from your retailer includes a network charge. This is the amount it costs the retailer to access our network so they can supply you with electricity.
The network charge is made up of Network Tariffs and General Service Charges.
The Network Tariffs relate to the charges for supplying the electricity and maintaining the network – the poles, wires and other equipment – in good working order. The tariffs consist of a transmission tariff (paid to SP AusNet when electricity is delivered via its high-voltage network), a distribution tariff and Victoria’s Premium Feed-in Tariff.
The General Service Charges includes a range of costs that are required either due to energy industry regulations or as a result of you requesting a special service.
We are introducing a new way of measuring the demand component of network tariffs for large electricity users. From July 2016 we will be using kVA to measure electricity demand.
