CitiPower is paving the way for the Fishermans Bend redevelopment – Australia’s largest urban renewal project.

Formerly known as the General Motors Holden (GMH) site, the precinct will undergo a major transformation to put Victoria at the forefront of global innovation in advanced manufacturing, engineering and design.

Project Outcomes

The Project

The redevelopment of Fishermans Bend includes plans for parks, schools, roads, transport and community facilities and other services that ensure the liveability of the area, all of which require a safe and seucre energy supply.

Our works are key to realising this redevelopment project, as we relocate more than 2km of conduit to ensure Fishermans Bend has a safe, secure and reliable energy network for the next century.

The works will begin on Salmon Street before moving on to Cook Street and Todd Road. Beginning in July 2022, the relocation works are scheduled to be complete in early 2023.

CitiPower will notify businesses and stakeholders well in advance of works to ensure there are minimal disruptions to the area.

What to expect

  • Sections of Salmon Street, Cook Street and Todd Road will be closed during the works with traffic management in place.
  • Detours will be in place on these during the closure period, with signage and traffic management in place.
  • Traffic controllers will safely direct vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists around the work area.
  • Vehicle and pedestrian access will be limited during work hours.
  • There will be some noise impacts from the underground excavation works.
  • The road will be reinstated shortly after civil works are completed.
  • If we are unable to perform the works during this time due to unforeseen conditions, we will notify you of a re-scheduled time and date.
