Powercor Pier to Pub and Powercor Mountain to Surf

Powercor Pier to Pub and Powercor Mountain to Surf

Our partnership with the Lorne Surf Life Saving Club makes us the naming rights partner of two cultural features of the Surf Coast region – the Powercor Mountain to Surf fun run and the Powercor Pier to Pub swim.

Celebrating more than 46 years of tradition, these events are essential in uniting over 5,000 swimmers, 2,000 runners and 25,000 spectators from across the country to our backyard on the Surf Coast, to experience this great weekend. The event is organised and managed entirely by volunteers from Lorne Surf Lifesaving Club and we’re proud to be backing it.

Event dates for next year:

  • Powercor Mountain to Surf fun run: Friday 8 January, 2027
  • Powercor Pier to Pub swim: Saturday 9 January, 2027

Entries will open on Monday 2 November 2026.

Both events raise awareness for beach and water safety, emphasising the importance of lifesaving initiatives and community wellbeing.

Funds raised from the Powercor Pier to Pub swim and the Powercor Mountain to Surf fun run directly support the Lorne Surf Life Saving Club, helping to maintain vital water safety services along the Surf Coast.

The out-of-town visitors that flock to Lorne to experience the weekend also provide an economic boost to the region.

Mountain to Surf fun run

The Powercor Lorne Mountain to Surf is one of Australia’s most beautiful, but tough, fun runs.

It’s an 8km run or walk from the Lorne township on the Great Ocean Road, starting uphill through the Otway forest ranges to the St George River track which then winds its way following the river back to the wild Southern Ocean and returns to Lorne past the iconic Lorne Pier and cliff track to the Surf Life Saving Club.

The Mountain to Surf is known for its friendly and relaxed atmosphere and attracts runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, from seasoned competitors to recreational runners and walkers.

Powercor Pier to Pub swim

The Lorne Pier to Pub is one of the largest ocean swims in the world, with over 5,000 participants swimming 1.2km from the Lorne Pier to the Lorne Surf Life Saving Club, just in front of the iconic Lorne Pub. It is organised by the Lorne Surf Life Saving Club and its volunteers, and is the major fundraiser for the club and its programs.

Some of the notable winners of the Pier to Pub swim include Kieran Perkins, Rob Woodhouse, Daniel Kowalski and Lani Pallister.
