From 1 July 2026, we’re launching the first phase of our flexible exports rollout, giving customers with a 0kW pre‑approved export limit the choice of a flexible exports connection or a 0kW static limit.
Flexible exports allow eligible homes and businesses to export more of their surplus solar and battery energy. Rather than applying a low static limit, exports are matched to the real-time capacity of the network.
This means customers can export to the limit of their inverter (or a maximum of 10kW) most of the time.
At times of peak demand or network constraints, exports may be temporarily reduced to maintain network safety. In our recent trial, customers were able to export freely more than 90% of the time.
We’re initially offering flexible export connections to our most constrained customers that receive a 0kW export limit in their pre-approval and fall under our Model Standing Offer (MSO). They can opt for either the flexible export connection or 0kW static limit.
To participate, installations must be CSIP-Aus compliant and internet enabled. Any devices that can’t be controlled at the site level under CSIP-AUS must be set to 0kW.
Solar installers and retailers are responsible for discussing these options and requirements with customers, so they can make an informed decision that suits their needs
We’ve updated our eConnect and myEnergy portals to streamline the process allowing you to enrol a site and accept the terms and conditions for a flexible exports connection as part of the solar alteration request.
