Trenching involves excavating a narrow section of ground or roadway to install underground electricity cables and associated infrastructure.
CitiPower is investing in new electricity infrastructure across Brunswick and Brunswick East to help maintain a safe, reliable and resilient power supply for the local community.
These works are part of a broader program to modernise the electricity network, replace ageing assets and support future growth and energy demand in the area.
Works are expected to commence in 2026 and continue in stages through to 2029.
As part of these upgrades, we’re installing new electricity infrastructure and retiring ageing equipment that has reached the end of its service life.

What to expect during works
During construction you may notice:
Electricity supply will generally remain available throughout construction. However, some customers may require planned outages to safely complete network connections. Where this is required, affected customers will receive advance notification.
Please note that work schedules may change due to weather conditions, site conditions or other factors outside of our control.
