We’re upgrading the underground power network in South Yarra to support new developments and help meet the area’s growing electricity needs.
As part of works to provide a new power supply for nearby developments, we will be carrying out service investigation and preparatory works for the installation of new underground power cables on the following streets in South Yarra:
These works will involve excavation activities to locate and investigate existing underground services, as well as prepare for the installation of new infrastructure.
While investigation works are underway, temporary lane closures will be in place to maintain a safe work area. Traffic controllers will safely manage traffic flow through the work area.
Following completion of the investigation works, crews will return to install new underground power cables.
Future stages of the project will require temporary road closures and changes to traffic conditions. Further information will be provided to affected residents, businesses and stakeholders before these works commence.
Works are scheduled to commence on Monday 3 August 2026 and continue until the end of 2026.
Standard working hours will be 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
Occasionally, weekend or night works may be required to safely complete the project or minimise impacts on traffic. If this occurs, we will notify nearby residents and businesses in advance.
During this period, our crews will undertake investigation works on existing underground power infrastructure and install new electrical assets at various locations throughout the project area. Please refer to the map below for the planned work locations.
