Christmas flights deliver smiles once againChristmas flights deliver smiles once again

Santa’s bell was ringing, the elves were doing somersaults and of course the Grinch was up to no good.

Most importantly, the kids were absolutely loving it!

Our Christmas flights were again a huge hit this year, with three schools hosting two of our choppers and a host of Christmas favourites, who delivered gifts and plenty of smiles to hundreds of school children earlier this month.

The lucky schools this year were, Kaliana Specialist School P-12 in Bendigo, Lockington Consolidated School and Tongala Primary School.

On board one chopper were Santa and the Elves and in the other chopper was the Grinch.

Unfortunately, the Grinch attempted to take Santa’s gift sack, but luckily the Elves intervened and Santa was able to share some gifts with the children.

The visit was a way to say thanks to communities for hosting Powercor’s helicopter operations throughout the year, which scan for vegetation near powerlines from the air.

General Manager Corporate Affairs, Customer, Strategy and Program Delivery, Scott Russell, said the event was once again a great example of living our core value of “Be Customer and Community Minded”.

“We think it’s really important to say thank you to our rural communities for supporting our vegetation aerial inspection program throughout the year.

“The feedback we had from the schools and the kids themselves was fantastic and well done to the team for getting involved and helping to spread some Christmas cheer.”

The vegetation inspection program is complete right across Powercor, CitiPower and United Energy, with 100% of the network inspected.
