La Trobe Street underground power supply

Weekly update on progress of works – 2 December 
Works are wrapping up – with the final part of works on the roadway scheduled for this week Tuesday 2nd December until Friday 5th December. Reinstatement of the roadway will take place the following week Tuesday 9 December until Friday 12 December which will conclude our work for the year.  Work area for this week is highlighted in blue in the below markup.

Works
We are completing underground power cable works on La Trobe Street, between Spencer Street and King Street as per the map below. The majority of construction works will be completed between September 2025 and December 2025.

Traffic Impacts

• During works there will be a road closure on the northbound side of La Trobe Street.
• Traffic control will be in place to safely guide vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians around the work area.
• Access to the tram stop will be maintained at all times with traffic controllers guiding pedestrians.

What to expect

• Day works which involve digging up the road of La Trobe Street to install and connect underground cables.
• The works will start at the King Street end of La Trobe Street and work their way down towards the Spencer Street end of La Trobe.
• A small portion of works will be completed at night as part of the final stage (Stage Three), near King Street. This is expected to take place in October.
• Some of this work will be noisy as it involves digging in the road.
• The side of the road William Angliss is on will remain open to traffic
