CitiPower is working with the City of Melbourne, to relocate underground assets for the future construction and delivery of the Queen Victoria Market Precinct Renewal Program.

Project Outcomes

The City of Melbourne is renewing the Queen Victoria Market and surrounding precinct, they are restoring the market’s heritage while delivering modern facilities to make the market work better for traders, customers and visitors, and revitalising this growing part of the city.

As part of the redevelopment CitiPower will be relocating underground power cables on Franklin Street, Peel Street, Dudley Street, William Street and Queen Street.

What to expect during CitiPower works:

  • Works will involve digging up parts of the road and footpath.
  • Some of this work may be noisy.
  • During works there will be some temporary traffic and parking impacts on Franklin Street, Peel Street, Dudley Street, William Street and Queen Street.
  • Local traffic and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times with traffic control in place to safely guide vehicles and pedestrians around the work area.
  • Local bus routes 220, 232, 234, 236 and 546 will be detoured via A’Beckett Street until early 2024.
  • Reinstatement of the area will be progressively completed after the completion of construction works.
