Regulatory Reset

Consulting on our future

Every five years, we prepare a fully costed business plan (or regulatory proposal) for the review and approval of the Australian Energy Regulator (AER). This is called an Electricity Distribution Price Review. But we refer to it simply as the regulatory reset.

Through this process, CitiPower and Powercor’s proposed investments, pricing plans and rate of return are approved by the AER.

This decides how much money we charge customers for our services. Network service charges typically make-up around one third of our customers’ electricity bills.

Listening to the views of our customers is therefore important to how we build our plans. We are actively engaging with our customers as we develop our plans for the years 2026 to 2031.

Our aim is to ensure we deliver a proposal that meets the needs, expectations and preferences of people relying on the electricity distributed by our networks.

Meanwhile, we are operating under a plan approved by the AER for the current regulatory period which started on 1 July 2021 and will end on 30 June 2026.

How we engage

Customers and stakeholders are at the heart of what we do and involved at each stage of the reset process. The insights we get from this engagement enable customers to have a say in the decisions we take as a business.

Engagement activities include informing, consulting, involving, and collaborating on topics, issues or decisions that impact customers’ everyday life. This may involve sharing information using a variety of methods and seeking community feedback in person, online or through other activities.

Our independent Customer Advisory Panel represents customer and stakeholder views and is one of the groups we collaborate with.

GoalTo provide stakeholders with balanced and objective information to assist them in understanding the issues, alternatives, and opportunities. To obtain stakeholder feedback on options and/or decisions. To work directly with stakeholders throughout the process to ensure that their concerns and aspirations are consistently understood and considered. To partner with stakeholders in each aspect of the decision including the development of alternatives and the identification of the outcome.
Promise to stakeholdersWe will keep you informed and provide you with tailored information for you to better understand proposals. We will keep you informed, listen to and acknowledge concerns and provide feedback on how stakeholder input influenced the decision.
